Director Stuart Heislers first of two films starring Humphrey Bogart (the second being Chain Lightning-1950), Tokyo Joe focuses on Bogarts title character, Joseph Barrett, as he returns to Japan following World War II to see if there is anything left of his pre-war bar and gambling joint ("Tokyo Joe's") after all the bombing. Bogart is the greatest American Screen Legend according to The American Film Institute.
