Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919)
Official Vice President Signed Card

In the collectors universe, Theodore Roosevelt’s signature is just as popular as the Rough Rider himself! A Teddy signature is an absolute must-own for any historical collector, as he is one of the most important and noteworthy Presidents in history.

What makes this piece so special is that Roosevelt penned his classic signature on an official card of ‘The Vice President” dating it to exactly 1901. Presidential calling cards are thick stock cards printed on official stationary. They are meant for the purpose of autographs and given out as souvenirs to important visitors. Teddy boldly signed, "T. Roosevelt" and the back of the frame is opened to show the important stationary, "The Vice President"

Prior to becoming the 26th President, Roosevelt was President William McKinley’s running-mate in the 1900 Election. Of course, McKinley was assassinated in September of 1901, leaving just an eight month period for Teddy to sign this autograph as Vice President!

"I would rather be anything than Vice-President" said Roosevelt. If you know anything about him then you can understand why. Roosevelt had an extremely energetic and active lifestyle, but the VP office is a slow-paced and uninvolved position compared to Commander in Chief. Calvin Coolidge joked, "I enjoyed my time as Vice President. It never interfered with my mandatory 11 hours of sleep." However, the irony for Roosevelt is that by accepting the VP nomination he became President in less than a year.

We’ve had the autograph custom framed with an opening in the back to view “The Vice President” Official card, and we’ve paired the historic autograph with a classic portrait of T.R.

Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
