Based on E. M. Nathanson's bestselling novel of the same name, The Dirty Dozen is a classic World War II action thriller distributed by MGM. Offered here is an original one-sheet movie poster from the films release in 1967.
Directed by Robert Aldridge, the film stars Lee Marvin as a United States Army Major assigned to train and lead 12 convicted murderers into a mass assassination mission during World War II. The ensemble cast also features Ernest Borgnine, Charles Bronson, Jim Brown, John Cassavetes, Telly Savalas, Robert Webber, and Donald Sutherland. The Dirty Dozen won an Academy award for Best Effects, Sound Effects and in 2001 was selected to the American Film Institutes top 100 Thrills of the past 100 Years.
This wonderful original one-sheet poster measuring 27 x 41 features colorful graphics and intricate detail by artist Frank McCarthy. The poster is in excellent condition, with no major rips, tears or defects and it has been professionally linen backed to preserve its condition and integrity for the future.
Vintage movie posters were normally printed in very limited quantities, often making them difficult to find, especially in high grade condition. The posters were not meant to be saved by movie theaters. In fact, after their initial use to promote the movie, theaters were instructed to return them to studios so they could be destroyed.
