Arguably the greatest second baseball in Major League history, Rogers Hornsby played 23 seasons during his Hall of Fame career. He won a World Series Title with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1926 and was one of the most dominant hitters of all-time.
Offered here is an original signed and inscribed publication photo of Rogers Hornsby. The signature is inscribed “1961”, just two years prior to Hornsby’s passing. Hornsby’s signature is presented in blue ink and remains in perfect condition, graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA/DNA.
Hornsby is certainly one of the all-time greats, but doesn’t often get the same fanfare as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Honus Wager. Nevertheless, he’s put up some numbers and still holds some records that will never be broken. He holds a lifetime batting average of .358 ranks. In fact, in a five year span from 1921-1925, he batted over .400. A winner of two Triple Crowns Awards (1922, 1925), two National League MVP awards, and 7 batting titles, he passed away quite young at 66 in 1963. His autograph in any form is considered rare and on all serious ball collector’s want lists.
