Babe Ruth Original Photo
1923 World Series
PSA Type 1

Offered here is a gorgeous Type 1 photograph of Babe Ruth from his first championship with the New York Yankees in 1923. The 1923 Fall Classic saw the Yankees face their cross-town rival New York Giants, with Ruth batting .368 with three home runs, leading the Bronx Bombers to victory in six games.

This 3.5” x 5.5" photo shows Ruth posing in his road uniform at the Polo Grounds before a game, and it displays unbelievable clarity! Two Culver Service stamps, a portion of a Culver Service sticker and "at World's Series Oct 6, 1923" (typed) are featured on the reverse. The photo was captured by George Grantham Bain, a New York City photographer known as "the father of foreign photographic news". Bain is one of the most well-known photographers in the hobby.

A Type 1 photo is a first generation photograph, developed from the original negative during the period. They are the most desirable and valuable of the four photograph types because of their clarity, vintage, and originality. Original photographs are extremely scarce with only a handful known – in many cases, one of a kind! Serious collectors consider them true artifacts, as opposed to cards and other memorabilia that were mass produced for commercial sale and advertising.
