A classic President Grant signature in gorgous flowing fountain ink. Extremely bold and contrasts perfectly against the clean paper A very special piece of 19th Century Presidential memorabilia!
After a successful military career in which he defeated the Confederate Army in the Civil War, General Ulysses S. Grant turned to politics. Serving as the 18th President of the United States, Grant successfully ran for President in 1868 and served two terms from 1869-1877. His tenure, unfortunately, was filled with a number of scandals, but also quite successful in bringing about the Reconstruction of the South and enforcement of new slavery laws. He was a West Point graduate, class of 1843, served in the Mexican-American War and accepted General Lee's surrender at the Appomattox Courthouse in April, 1865, ending the bloodiest war in this country's history.
Professionally framed and double matted, it has been placed under ultraviolet protected plexiglass for additional protection. We also placed the autograph itself in clear mylar for additional "safekeeping".
Comes with a graded Letter of Authenticity from PSA
