President Herbert Hoover Signed Photograph - Circa 1929

$ 1,300.00

Your opportunity to own a piece of American History, offered here is a wonderful autographed photograph of President Herbert Hoover (1874-1964) by Underwood and Underwood Studios. Making it even more impressive is its presentation, as it is contained in a custom cardboard folio-booklet with the Underwood trademark stamp on cover. Clearly this one was given to a special friend of the President and has somehow, fortuitously, survived the years.

The photograph itself, measuring 13"x10.5", is a perfectly sharp and clear image with the Underwood trademark stamp also appearing on the lower left. Hoovers black fountain pen autograph, measuring three and a half inches long, is simply a beauty. This is one fine presidential piece of memorabilia in original, pristine condition.

Renowned for their formal portraits of U.S. Presidents and government figures, Underwood and Underwood first opened its doors in 1881 and is responsible for a variety of iconic images in political and entertainment history. Along with the Harris and Ewing Studio, they were responsible for Presidential photographs during this early period.

Since this presentation is so spectacular and rare, we decided not to frame the photo itself and allow it to remain fully intact in its cardboard file, which was purposely designed in booklet form to fold out horizontally for display purposes. However, the photo, at any time, easily can be removed and framed (we suggest keeping the booklet itself if you choose to frame; it is that significant).

In 1928, Herbert Hoover won the Republican nomination with ease, becoming the 31st United States President holding office from 1929-1933. Along with William H. Taft, Hoover is the only other President to be elected without electoral experience or high military rank, and he is also one of only two Presidents to redistribute his salary (JFK being the other, donating his Presidential paychecks to charity).

One terrific ensemble and extremely rare. Certainly the first we have owned and the condition could not be finer.

Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Brigandi Coins and Collectibles of New York City, a leader in collectibles since 1959.
