The Big Three!

Easily one of our most popular vintage baseball signed photos, offered here is a classic sepia-toned 11x14 photo featuring Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, and Ted Williams. Most of the time, we find this particular image in the 8x10 variety, but oversized 11x14 versions are much more difficult to come by. Each Hall of Famer has perfectly scripted his signature in bold blue ink and the piece is Graded Overall Mint 9 by PSA/ DNA – (DiMaggio Auto 10, Mantle Auto 9, Williams Auto 8).

This photo may be one of the most popular sports images of all-time, but not all fans know the history behind it. April 17th, 1951 Opening Day, Mickey Mantle made his Major League debut and recalled it was the worst day of his life. Mantle's first big league appearance was filled with great expectation, and he was also playing alongside two of the greatest players of the era, Joe DiMaggio, and Ted Williams. Mantle admitted he was so scared that he didn't sleep the night before! Wearing No.6 at the time, Mantle blushed when a photographer asked him to pose for a picture between Joltin' Joe and Teddy Ballgame!

The rookie batted third in front of DiMaggio and started in right field, finishing 1-for-4 with an RBI to help defeat the Red Sox 5-0. Also, an interesting note, Bob Sheppard, the legendary Yankee PA announcer, made his debut the same day! Of course, Mantle would be sent down to the minors mid-season, but would return for the 1951 World Series with his new number 7!

The photo has been custom framed and double matted, and comes with a Graded Letter of Authenticity from PSA.
