Jackie Robinson Signed Goverment Postcard Spring Training 1950. Auto Beckett BAS
Jackie Robinson Autograph, Spring Training 1950
It’s been 75 years since Jackie Robinson broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier, and we’re quite certain that the Brooklyn Dodger Hall of Famer would be more than pleased with the current state of the league… Aaron Judge chasing home run history, Shohei Ohtani dominating in the box and on the mound, and a field of young talent that perhaps we’ve never seen before!
Offered here is a gorgeous autograph from the prime of Jackie Robinson’s historic career – a 1950 Government Post Card featuring a bold Jackie signature! The style is consistent with his early playing days autograph, very deliberate with each letter perfectly scripted. The back of the postcard features the official Vero Beach, Florida postal stamp, as well as the date March 31, 1950... so we know this piece was signed during Dodgers Spring training.
This is Golden Age Baseball collecting at its finest! Today, it seems impossible that one of the greatest players in the game would simply put an autograph through the mail, but this was a common way to obtain autographs at the time.
