1947 I'm Rooting for Jackie Robinson
PSA EX-MT 6
Low Population - Only 3 Extant According to PSA Pop Report!
No baseball collection is complete without a relic from the game's biggest hero! Jackie Robinson memorabilia continues to soar in price, as collectors continue to recognize his talents on the field and his importance off of it. We recently acquired two Jackie Robinson pins, which are scarce, especially in such high-grade condition. In fact, PSA no longer grades these types of pins, so the populations remain extremely low!
An incredible piece of history sold at Ebbett's field in 1947, the year Jackie broke the color barrier and won MLB's inaugural Rookie of the Year Award. Typically, these pins suffer from scratches and significant surface damage. This particular celluloid pinback measures 11/4 " in diameter and remains in gorgeous like-new condition.
Sadly, the statement "I'm Rooting for Jackie Robinson" was controversial at the time. This incredible relic reflects the state of baseball, and America, at the time. Certainly times were changing and Jackie Robinson was the symbol of that change!
