A World Class Alfred Hitchcock Autographed Photograph
Presented is the finest autographed photograph of the The Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980). We cannot imagine a better image exists: The preeminent director of his time at work framing a scene, this one is--in a word--special!

This English born movie director and producer came to the United States in 1939, a decade after making pictures in Europe. His thriller movies immediately took American cinema to another level, particularly in the area of intrigue and suspense. In his 50 motion pictures, he garnered 46 Oscar nominations, winning 6 of them outright. Talk about percentages!

His feature films include Psycho, The Birds, North by Northwest, Vertigo, Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, Notorious, and the list continues. He carried the mystery drama genre over to television in 1955 with Alfred Hitchcock Presents, which later became The Alfred Hitchcock Hour in 1962. Those television episodes are among the most popular of all time, particularly his perverse or offbeat humor in each cameo before and after each show. They are iconic and highly recommended, and can be viewed online.

Generally recognized as the most influential film director of his time, he has been honored with five lifetime achievement awards, eight of his films have been selected for preservation by the American Film Institute, and in 1979 England's Queen Elizabeth bestowed upon him perhaps his greatest recognition by knighting him. He was even selected in 2012 by the English pop artist, Sir Peter Blake, to be on the new cover, of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band Album, along with other British cultural figures.

The Photograph Itself
Signed photographs by the Master of Thriller are extremely rare, but that's not what drew our attention to it initially. It was the image itself. It is so classic that we cannot imagine a better one exists. It is an impromptu portrait depicting the artist at work, directing a scene on a studio set. Look closely and you will see a REVUE Studio box; that studio, founded in 1943 and later owned by MCA and Universal, produced his television mystery shows referred to above. That is simply spectacular and further defines the photo.

The black and white (what else?) photograph measures 8x10 inches and the picture itself is perfectly crystal-clear. It's also in Mint Condition, free of any flaws whatsoever.

His autograph? Just magnificent: A full five inches in length and perfectly positioned on the white portion of the photo. The contrast and clarity could not be better. Simply stated, if a finer Hitchcock-signed photo exists we would like to see it.

Exceptional photographs of iconic figures come around only occasionally. When they do, we purchase them, even if it means we must "stretch" to obtain the piece. Quality and scarcity cannot be overlooked when evaluating rare memorabilia. Simply look to the prices of rare baseball cards as evidence of that. As inflation grows year after year these extraordinary pieces follow. That philosophy has served us well over our 60 years in the collectibles business.

If you love the great Hitchcock and his mystery-intrigue style, this item is a must. We have witnessed just a few other signed photos, all of which in a smaller format, but this one is as clean and eye-appealing as any example. The image is simply world class! The Best of the Best and not to be missed. Once sold, it will be "lost to the hobby" forever.

Comes with the all-important letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA, the hobby's leading third party authenticator.
