1975 Jaws Original One Sheet Movie Poster, Framed
You're gonna need a bigger boat
Regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, Steven Spielberg's Jaws was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". It was the quintessential summer blockbuster and its release was groundbreaking in establishing the modern landscape of the motion picture industry in Hollywood. John Williams’ Academy Award winning score, along with Spielberg’s ability to combine the adventure, horror, and thriller genres together makes this particular film one of the most intense cinematic experiences of all-time.
Offered here is a completely original one-sheet (27" x 41") movie poster from the film's first release in 1975. The poster is in outstanding condition and has been framed to preserve it's condition and integrity for future generations. In the 1970s, Most movie posters were folded and shipped, which resulted in lines and creases throughout. However, on rare occasions, theaters (mostly local) would request that the studio ship the posters rolled so they would not feature any fold lines, as is the case with the poster offered here. The result is a gorgeous specimen in mint condition!
Original movie posters are the foundation to any entertainment collection. They were originally sent by the National Screen Service (NSS) to movie theaters in anticipation of a film's release, and were used for display purposes while the movie was featured. Once the movie ran its course, the posters were supposed to be discarded by the theater, or returned to the studio to be destroyed. In essence they were ephemeral, and few survive to day in nice condition!
