The American League All-Stars defeated the National League by a score of 6-4, on July 13, 1971 at Tiger Stadium in Detroit. Frank Robinson was named the MVP, but Reggie Jackson's home run was the highlight of the night. Jackson, as a pinch hittter in the third inning, launched a home run an estimated 520 feet from home plate, that hit a light standard on the roof of the stadium.
